Another World

My third visit to Isha Vidhya - but numbers never tell the whole story. I know the school, interacted with them earlier too, but this time, it was different. What a welcome by the kutti ones:-)

 I went primarily to capture photos of the newly constructed science lab(our marathon contribution too counts:-))

and the bubbling kids. Two kids who touched and inspired me.

Bharat, 9th std, passionate about science, got 5000rs inspire scholarship from a science competition. He explained the achimedes principle from the new lab to all of us, in decent english - what a proud moment(not bcos it was english but the confidence with which he did)

Arthi, class XI student - the only one(school is yet to get official recognition, she is doing thru' NIOS) performed bharathanatyam for us. No one can even imagine that such a kid does not have the support of both her mother and father and it was the school which has adopted her and made arrangements for her stay with one of their relatives nearby. In some ways, that explains the life changing support provided by Isha Vidhya for the kids.

I could not believe the background of 3 Isha Vidhya kids- Sindhu Veliyan, Poo Vizhian, Thamizini - chaste beautiful tamil names, when i saw their home and interacted with her mother. Post the demise of her drunkard husband, she thought of committing suicide. But the timely intervention of Pushpa akka(admin of Isha Vidhya) changed their lives - all the 3 cutie pies are Isha Vidhya Full scholarship students and she works as an helper there with a monthly salary. Really proud to be a drop in the Isha Vidhya Ocean.

This incident summarizes everything about Isha Vidhya.
A middle school kid rendered 99 flower names in chaste tamil to our happiness. The near 40 principal told immediately - "She just told the 99 different flower names in tamil". He paused and said "she is the 100th flower":-)
